Currently, we are hiring to fill the below positions:


I. MANAGING EDITOR

The managing editor will direct the production of editorial content for all of Globe Media Asia’s publications. This includes planning and implementing the editorial calendar and production timelines, commissioning freelancers and administering the editorial team. The managing editor must have experience in an editorial capacity and be familiar with digital publishing technologies and media trends. Knowledge of the region is a plus, and a speedy understanding of our editorial line and on what constitutes relevant editorial content for our readership is expected.

Core duties and responsibilities:

  • Oversee editorial production for our print magazines, websites and social media accounts
  • Coordinate content between print and online to increase editorial efficiency
  • Hold daily meetings with the editorial team to determine online and print content
  • Work closely with all members of our newsroom: editors, reporters, interns, as well as sales and marketing executives
  • Work closely with the Digital Manager / Online Editor to develop the digital strategy and grow online readership and social media followings
  • Implement and improve internal processes
  • Acquire new content sources and build editorial partnerships with international organizations
  • Editorial administrative tasks and HR support

Skills:

  • Good organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of SEO and social media platforms is a plus

Qualifications:

  • Native or fluent English speaker with a minimum of three years’ editorial experience (print / online)
  • A degree in journalism or communications or a related subject, or relevant previous experience

II. EDITOR

The person in this role edits content for all of Globe Media Asia’s publications. Our editor must have experience in an editorial capacity and be familiar with magazine publishing, new technologies and media trends. Knowledge of the region is a plus, and a speedy understanding of our editorial line and what constitutes relevant editorial content for our readership is expected.

Principal job duties and responsibilities:

  • Edit content for our print magazine, websites and social media accounts
  • Help coordinate content between print and online to increase editorial efficiency
  • Attend daily meetings with the editorial team to determine online and print content
  • Work closely with all members of our newsroom: editors, reporters, interns
  • Work closely with freelance contributors and sources
  • Acquire new content sources and build editorial partnerships with international organisations

Skills:

  • Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to write and edit to the highest standards
  • Knowledge of InDesign, Microsoft Office and other editorial communication programs is a plus

Qualifications:

  • A degree in journalism or communications or a related subject, or relevant previous experience
  • Native or fluent English speaker with a minimum of three years’ editorial experience
  • Previous experience with magazines and their online department is a plus

III. DIGITAL MANAGER

Globe Media Asia is looking for a driven and highly organised Digital Manager to oversee both the website and social media content & strategy of the company. Those applying to this role should be digitally minded, measuring their success by growing our publications’ reach and following through these platforms. The role will require writing and editing, so solid digital all-rounders are encouraged to apply.

Core duties and responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily content creation and publication for our website and social media accounts
  • Write and edit stories
  • Develop and improve our online strategy alongside management
  • Increase quality traffic, reduce bounce rates and grow our community of digital followers
  • Partner on projects with all members of our newsroom, including reporters, editors, and sales and marketing executives
  • Identify problem areas, track success through engagement rates, and create solutions to enhance user experience and grow our international and regional readerships
  • Recruit and supervise contributors and interns
  • Develop and implement new online verticals, products, strategies and special editorial projects
  • Optimise article presentations with embeds, links, photos and other multimedia

Skills:

  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Strong interest in digital growth and in building an online and social media following for the publication
  • Strong understanding of SEO and social media platforms (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn)
  • Good organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and deliver high-quality content
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with writers, designers and webmasters

Experience and qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or a relevant subject is preferred
  • Native or fluent English speaker with a minimum of three years’ online journalism experience
  • Previous experience with newsletter publishing, analytics tools and spread sheets a plus

You will typically work Monday to Friday. However – you are expected to dedicate the extra hours needed to ensure the company’s goals are met.  You will also be required to attend meetings and events out of office time.

IV. BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVE

Globe Media Asia is looking for a success-oriented Chinese and/or Khmer-speaking Business Development Executive. This person works closely together with the Business Development Manager, the management and the editorial team to identify new sources of revenue and further develop existing revenue sources for the company. Overall, the position is sales oriented with an additional focus lies on streamlining and modernising internal processes.

V. SALES EXECUTIVE

We are looking for a success-oriented Chinese and/or Khmer-speaking Sales Executive to define and implement sales strategies, generate sales leads, sell advertising for our publications and special projects, and increase revenue opportunities.

The Sales Executive will work together with the Business Development Manager and the senior management to generate revenue for the company’s publications, extending to both our print and online channels, which we are looking to take to the next level.

Core duties and responsibilities:

  • Implement sales and pricing strategies
  • Contact local decision makers and maintain close relationships
  • Sell advertising for all media (on- and offline)
  • Support the company’s Business Development Manager
  • Achieve and exceed set sales targets
  • Attend business and social events on behalf of the company
  • Increase client outreach
  • Maintain client and contact database
  • Support the development of new company projects
  • Support and update local distribution networks

Skills:

  • Good organisation and ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Confident, with a persuasive manner
  • Hungry for success and sales results
  • Proven attention to detail

VI. EDITORIAL INTERNSHIPS

We have internships starting from six months, although individual circumstances will be considered. Ideally, you have a degree and/or experience in journalism/media/design and are fluent in English in speaking and writing.
